Did You Know?

GET YOUR PUP THE LEPTO VACCINE

Let's talk Lepto!

Most vets vaccinate against Lepto. We now consider the Leptospirosis vaccine to be part of the "Core Vaccines Group" along with Rabies and Distemper/Parvo. Make sure your pup has been vaccinated!

To find out more information, check with your vet to make sure your dog has been given the Lepto vaccination or to schedule your dog to get vaccinated for Leptospirosis.

Lepto is a bacterial infection found in water & soil that affects mammals and can be spread from an animal to a human.

If a dog isn't vaccinated and becomes infected, their symptoms can become life-threatening, resulting in lethargy, vomiting, dehydration, jaundice, and abdominal pain. This then can cause damage to organs such as liver, heart, and lungs.

An infected dog can spread the Lepto bacteria to humans.

For all of these reasons, please make sure that your pup has the Lepto vaccination to prevent contraction and spreading to other animals and people. The Lepto vaccine can be received as early as 12 weeks old. Make sure your pup is covered!
