Our Mission is to serve, advocate, and be the voice for the underprivileged and abandoned animals awaiting forever homes in shelters throughout New Hanover County and surrounding counties as we are able.
We are committed to helping at risk animals in need from shelters due to over population and medical needs. We are a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to restoring the animals under our care to physical and emotional health as they await placement in loving, responsible homes and/or other rescues. We are dedicated to providing a safe haven for neglected, abandoned, or abused animals and promote compassionate and humane treatment for all animals.
We are committed in remaining focused on keeping our administrative expenses low in order to assure that very little is used for anything other than to support the animals under our care. Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. We assist animals in distress without regard to age or breed to the extent our finances allow. Our group will remain interested in and committed to the welfare of the animal beyond the foster/adoption process.
All potential fosters and/or adopters will be required to:
1. Submit to a home check (in person or virtually)
2. Submit a foster or adoption application
3. Comply by our requirements for fostering and adoptions
4. Agree to returning to us any animal adopted from us if situations change and the animal is no longer able to stay in the adopter’s home
We will fund our rescue through donations received from the general public along with charity raising events and/or grants won. Financial statements will be reviewed by our Board on a quarterly basis (at minimum) and available for review by any State or Federal agency as requested.
Through the above commitments and working in collaboration with shelters, other rescues, and humane organizations, we intend to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
