Meet Calli!

Calli

CALLI

AGE: Approximately 3 years old

BREED: Retriever Mix

SEX: F

BACKGROUND: Calli is just a little gal who is all heart!!! Sweet, social, and full of personality, Calli is a ~3-year-old girl who came to us from a local shelter after being found as a stray. Poor little girl was scared to death in the shelter and army-crawled when you tried to approach her. As soon as she got to her foster's home, she opened up her personality to the very sweet girl that's been hidden inside!!! While her past is a bit of a mystery, it’s clear that she’s known love before—she’s house-broken and already understands some basic commands.

Calli’s foster family describes her as incredibly sweet, a little goofy, and happiest when she’s simply hanging out with her people. She has a gentle, affectionate nature and truly thrives on human companionship. She does have a bit of an undercoat and sheds, but with regular brushing it’s very manageable. If you’re looking for a loving, easygoing companion who just wants to be part of your life, Calli may be your perfect match!

NEEDS: She gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine sibling to play with. A fenced yard would be a dream so she can run and show off her zoomies, but she’d also do great with an active family who enjoys walks and spending time outdoors. She walks well on leash, and thinks her furry friends with the funny meow noises are super cool! No more worries, Cali. We gotchya' now!

HEALTH ISSUES: Calli is fully vaccinated and currently completing treatment for heartworm disease. The good news: her X-rays looked great, and our vets do not anticipate any long-term issues. Rescue covers all costs related to her heartworm treatment as well as her follow-up heartworm test 30 days after her final treatment to confirm she’s officially heartworm-free. Because of this, Calli will be foster-to-adopt until 48 hours after her final treatment, scheduled for February 13. During this time, adoption is limited to New Hanover and surrounding counties. Once she is fully cleared, adoption will be open to North Carolina residents.
