BACKGROUND: This beautiful guy was rescued from a shelter.
NEEDS: Meatball is SUCH an amazing pup. He's just a snuggle bunny with one of our loving fosters; he's loving his humans. He gets along with other dogs, and is learning to be a good boy in the house.
HEALTH ISSUES: Meatball's labs and X-rays look good. He is heartworm positive BUT he has already started treatment and we will get him fully healthy again! Freedom Bridge remains financially responsible for his treatments until completed. He's up-to-date on core vaccines, and is neutered and microchipped.

BACKGROUND: Boone is yet another "Little" who was found in this big world all by himself.
NEEDS: This adorable little guy is VERY scared and won't stop shaking BUT he is doing a little better in his amazing fosters' home. Boone is such a sweet boy but soooo very nervous. He's learning that there are kind humans in this world. More to come as he comes out of his shell.
HEALTH ISSUES: Boone is chipped, up-to-date on core vaccines, and neutered. He is healthy and ready for his forever family.
MAMA SURI
AGE: Approximately 1 to 1.5 years old
BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: F
BACKGROUND: Suri was a very scared mama, handling life on her own. She was found by the graveyard with her puppy Scout. Animal Control was able to first get Scout. They found 3 other puppies that had passed. One of their attempts to catch Mama ended up catching another pup, Inky. And, FINALLY, Mama and one remaining pup, Gravy, got into a Good Samaritan's car who stopped for them. Because Mama wanted to meet the pup the Good Samaritan had with her, she was able to get them and notify Animal Control. We took them under rescue. Mama and 3 puppies are now safe.
NEEDS: Suri finished nursing her babies and her little ones have found loving homes. Now Suri needs a loving home to show her a safe life that's not on the streets.
HEALTH ISSUES: She is in good health and is ready for stability, security, and love.

After being cruelly thrust over a 6-ft fence and abandoned amongst dumpsters, new mama Adira was found absolutely distraught. Bone thin and covered in fleas and ticks, this sweet girl has endured a lifetime of exploitation, used for her babies, and then discarded like trash.
Poor Adira was recently found abandoned. This sweet girl was noticed by a passerby. She was in an area with several dumpsters surrounded by a 6-ft tall fence. The only way Adira could have gotten into this area is by being thrown over the fence by a human. To make matters even more heartbreaking, it looks like Adira just recently gave birth. She is still full of milk, but no puppies were found in the area. We searched tirelessly but found no trace of Adira’s puppies. Adira was likely used for her babies, and then discarded shortly after they were born. Separating Adira from her babies in this way puts this mama at risk of developing mastitis, a bacterial infection in the mammary gland.
Adira was distraught when we picked her up. She didn’t know what happened to her babies and was desperately searching for them. Clearly the victim of vile neglect, Adira was likely fed just enough to keep her alive. This poor girl was skin and bones and covered in fleas and ticks. We will be taking Adira to the vet as soon as possible, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she tested positive for Heartworm Disease. This poor girl had no one to care for her, but that ends now. Despite all that she has endured, Adira is as sweet as can be, and we are determined to give this girl the life that she deserves.
Adira is now safely in our care, and she will be with us until she has a clean bill of health. Adira will get spayed as she will never be exploited for her puppies again. She will also receive basic vet care, including vaccinations. We will clear up her infestation of fleas and ticks, and ensure that she is treated for any other medical issues we discover during her vet exam.

OLIVER
AGE: Approximately 10 weeks old

BACKGROUND: We just got this sweet puppy as a medical. He has a radial/ulnar fracture on his right front leg. Poor little guy was wondering around hobbling in Bladen County. He cannot bear weight on that leg currently. However, you wouldn't know he has a broken arm if you saw him.
NEEDS: Little Oliver is your normal, happy puppy. He loves his Heartbeat Bear (cuddling in the photo above) that helps him think he's with his Mama. He is such a sweet boy and most likely will be medium-sized once fully mature.
HEALTH ISSUES: Oliver has received one round of vaccines and is eating and drinking like a champ. He's currently wearing a splinter with the thought, per our vet, that this may heal without surgical intervention. He is being crate-rested and on pain medication. Keep your paws crossed that Oliver heals without the need for surgery... poor little guy!

BACKGROUND: Precious was found as a stray while pregnant. Sweet lost one was taken in by one of our amazing fosters who helped Mama deliver and then be with her babies for the entire 8 weeks that puppies should be with their Mama. .
NEEDS: As soon as her babies are ready to find their new homes, Precious needs to feel the safety of a loving home herself. She is doing such a good job!

BACKGROUND: Precious gave birth to these two beautiful babies while in her foster home. Topaz and Tanzy have been with their mama since birth.
NEEDS: Precious, Topaz, and Tanzy are still together as a family but the puppies are much more independent now and will be ready to go to their foster homes soon.
HEALTH ISSUES: Topaz and Tanzy will be checked by the doggy doctor and be good and healthy when they find their forever family.

We have been honored to receive a very generous donation from Mary Fanning on behalf of herself and her husband Rob who passed away at a young age in the recent past. Both Mary and Rob are true animal lovers. They have adopted rescues (dogs and cats) all their lives. When Rob passed, one of his wishes was for Mary to continue to support those who rescued the poor souls who have no voice, and so she has. We are so very grateful for her and Rob's generosity so that we may continue our mission. We will continue saving pups in danger, ill, abused and without a home in honor of Rob and Mary and all those who have helped us do our work!
